When the Thought Hits: “Who Signed Me Up for This?”
You’ll hear it in different forms.
Young soldiers early in training.
Seasoned leaders later on.
People just trying to get through a week.
“Who signed me up for this?”
It shows up fast.
And it pulls attention away just as quickly.
From there, it doesn’t take much:
- disengagement
- second-guessing
- quiet exit
I’ve seen it enough to know—it’s not a character flaw.
It’s a moment.
And moments can be trained.
Instead of arguing with the thought, try something simpler:
Take charge of your training.
Not the whole day.
Not the whole situation.
Just this moment.
One breath.
One adjustment.
One small rep.
That’s where things start to come back online.
